Stocks upbeat as Trump commits $50b to fight Coronavirus 

Stocks in US rose on Friday as President Donald Trump declared a national emergency and said he was making $50 billion available to fight the Coronavirus epidemic. 

The House was set to vote on the relief plan late Friday.

West Virginia is now the only state in the US without a confirmed coronavirus case, after Montana announced four.

Congress and the White House agreed  on a sweeping relief package to assist people affected by the outbreak of the coronavirus, moving to confront a growing pandemic that has upended lives and wreaked havoc on financial markets.

The House was set to vote on the plan on Friday evening, after a roller-coaster day of negotiations that threatened to veer off track as President Trump criticized the plan during a White House Rose Garden news conference in which he declared a national emergency.
