Messi ties another La Liga record in Mallorca 4-0 overhaul

Barcelona on Saturday outclassed Mallorca to an impressive 4-0 win in La Liga restart at Son Moix Stadium.

After three months of inaction due to coronavirus pandemic. The Blaugranas returned with a fine start as their talisman Lionel Messi also added another honor to his merit list.

Quique Sentien’s men established a mark just two minutes into the game when Aturo Vidal headed home his fastest goal from Jordi Alba’s cross.

Messi assisted Martin Braithwaite for the second and sets up Jordi Alba for the third before scoring a late goal to complete the haul, raising his goal tally to 20 in La Liga and 25 in all competition.

His 20th goal of 2019/20 La Liga campaign means Lionel Messi now holds a record as the only player to score 20 goals or more in 12 consecutive La Liga seasons dated 2008/09 – 2019/20.

Barcelona are now five points clear off arch-rival Real Madrid who have a game against Eibar on Sunday.
