Barcelona, Juventus confirm agreement on Arthur, Pjianic transfer

Barcelona and Juventus have officially announced the switch deal for Arthur Melo and Miralem Pjianic. Both clubs will have a player departing and the other arriving in a single transfer deal.

The announcement surfaced following the completion of medical assessment of both players in Turin. Arthur flew into Italy on Saturday night to oblige to the necessary medical test while Pjanic who is already based in Italy underwent his as well.

Barcelona confirmed the transfer of Arthur Melo to Juventus on a deal worth 72 million euros with additional 10 million euros as add-on.

“Barcelona and Juventus FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Arthur Melo. The Italian club will pay 72 million euros, plus 10 million euros in variables. The player will remain at FC Barcelona until the end of official competition in the 2019/20 season.” A statement on Barcelona website.

Pjanic on the other hand penned a four year contract after costing the Spanish giants about €65 million to capture his signature.

“Juventus announce the definitive transfer of the right to sports services of the player Miralem Pjanic against a consideration of €60 million, payable in four years, which may increase by an additional €5 million per certain conditions occur during the contractual term. This operation generates a positive economic effect of approximately €41.8 million, net of the solidarity contribution and charges accessories.” A statement on Juventus website.

Both players will continue playing for their current clubs for the rest of the season including in the Champions League this August before linking up with their new team ahead of next season.
