Michail Antonio and Andriy Yarmolenko made an appealing revelation of their essence on Wednesday night to help Westham United claim dominance in a contention that looked to finish on level terms.
With one minute left from normal time, Westham established victory after Antonio sets up Yarmolenko who clipped the ball to Kepa Areizabalaga’s goal post to covet a vital three points in a captivating London Derby.
Chelsea came into the game hoping to extend their lead to five points ahead of trailing Manchester United who are earnestly seeking for champions league spot.
The Blues are however confident of maintaining their winning streak which saw them beat Aston Villa, Manchester City and Leicester City to record an 100 percent win since the return of Premier League.
Westham on the other approached the game looking vulnerable as they have been on 100 percent losing streak since June, having lost two games, conceded four goals and failed to register a goal before things went raving at London Stadium.
Chelsea kicked off the game full of inspiration but Westham made a break first, through Tomas Soucek who was ruled for offside by VAR.
However, their dominant display and possession control led to a penalty after Issa Diop caught Christian Pulisic inside the goal area and Willian punished him by slotting home.
Jarrod Bowen set up Soucek to force a draw before half time and provided another assist for Antonio to put the Hammers up front just six minutes into second half. Willian then put Chelsea on par from a direct free kick he curled into the far post to keep hopes alive.
At the scene of settling for a draw, Antonio cuts Chelsea’s defence open and sends a through ball to Yarmolenko who beats Arrizabalaga to command a resounding 3-2 win for Westham in stoppage time.
It was a happy ending game as David Moyes men earned an important victory which sees them move up from Premier League table bottom.
