Chelsea new signing Hakim Ziyech has been presented for the first time following a training session at the Cobham training center on Saturday.
Chelsea secured the service of the Morocco international in February after reaching a £33.3m transfer fee agreement with Ajax which saw the versatile winger pen down a five-year contract after agreeing to personal terms.
After the Dutch Eredivisie’s season was cancelled in April due to the novel coronavirus outbreak, the 27 year-old was unable to join his new club immediately due to international travel restrictions.
With the ease in global health crisis, the player arrived London in a private jet on Friday night with his Agent Mustapha Nakhli and wasted no time in heading straight to the training center to begin his preparations ahead of next season.
In spite of that, he was engaged personally in a light session as his new Chelsea team-mates are away to battle Sheffield United even though Chelsea boss wants to introduce the star gradually into group training over the coming weeks.
After the training session Chelsea updated the procedure on the club’s website and welcomed Ziyech in the same vein.
“The Moroccan international is now officially a Chelsea player following his transfer from Ajax, although he cannot feature for the Blues until the 2020/21 campaign begins. In the meantime, the focus is on fitness given he hasn’t played a competitive game since the first week of March.” A statement on Chelsea website.
The player who was not just excited to be back in action but also at a new club wrote on Instagram “First session done for @chelseafc. Very excited and happy to be here and can’t wait to see you guys at the Bridge soon.”
Chelsea are left with three more Premier League games, an FA Cup semi-final and the Champions League last-16, second leg to see off this season but Ziyech won’t feature in any of these games until next season.
