M’City 5-0 Brighton: Raheem Sterling nets hat-trick in Albion humiliation

Raheem Sterling scored an impressive opener and subsequently sealed the score sheet as Manchester City inflict a 5-0 rout on Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.

The England International put the Citizens ahead in 21st minute before placing himself on a spotlight by recording a brace in second half to complete his second hat-trick in the Premier League this season.

The win becomes second consecutive 5-0 victory for the Sky Blues and their third since the restart of Premier League following the thrashing Newcastle United in midweek and Burnley in June.

Despite the Premier League title race being brought to a halt a fortnight ago, City are still banking on their massive win to reduce the point and goal margin as champions Liverpool continue to drop points in recent games.

Pep Guardiola’s men are also putting on a resounding form ahead of completing a double in the remaining part of the season as they are one of the favourites to win the Champions League and FA Cup trophies.

Manchester City kicked off the game on a bright note after commanding a comfortable 2-0 lead before halftime courtesy of Raheem Sterling curled drive into the bottom corner and Gabriel Jesus tap-in from Rodri’s pass.

The game seized to be a contest 11 minutes into second half as Sterling scored a header in 53 minutes and Bernardo Silva also found the net in 56 minutes before Sterling closed the goal festive nine minutes to stoppage time.

Manchester City will host 18 placed Bournemouth on Wednesday June 15 as they could further worsen the Cherries relegation battle at the Ethiad.
