Senator Buruji Kashamu is dead. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain died of COVID-19 complications.
Kashamu, a former senator from Ogun state, represented Ogun-East senatorial district between 2015 and 2019, died at First Cardiology Consultants, Lagos.
Senator Ben Murray-Bruce said the deceased would be sorely missed. He tweeted: “I have just lost my good friend of forever to COVID-19. Until his death, Sen. Buruji Kashamu and I were inseparable.
He had a brush with the law over allegations of drug dealing while he was in the US.
In 2015, there was a stand-off at his residence after operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) attempted to arrest him for extradition to the US.
He challenged the attempt to extradite in court until his death. He dies at the age of 62 years.
