Kada Stars on Tuesday finally secured their first win at the ongoing 2020 Prudent Energy Handball Premier League in Abuja, beating Delta Force of Asaba 25-19.
The league which entered Match Day 4 on Tuesday is featuring both male and female teams and had began on Saturday.
It is holding at the indoor and outdoor handball courts of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja and is expected to end on Nov. 14.
Kada Stars led 15-7 at the end of the match’s first half, and with hard defensive skills and impressive runs they were able to steady their game.
They were more co-ordinated and showed good skills.
Speaking later, the Chief Coach of Kada Stars, Ahmed Habib, said winning made him happy and impressed.
“I am happy and impressed that the confidence I had that we would win was not a wrong one.
“I know the type of young team I have now,” he said.
Habib then handed down words of warning to their other opponents, saying “I am already thinking of other tactics to deploy to overcome other teams challenging us in this league.
“Starting from tomorrow’s (Wednesday’s) match against the Borno Spiders, we will also proceed to go on to win and ensure we make an impact in the league.
” I believe we will continue to win until our team are among the best four, and I will make sure that standard is achieved,” he said.
Habib further expressed that he was optimistic that his team was going to end up among the top four in the competition.
NAN reports that in other matches played in the league’s female category, Benue Queens of Makurdi defeated Desert Queens of Katsina 28-17.
In the men’s category, Safety Shooters defeated Lagos Seasiders 25-23, while Confluence Stars lost to Plateau Vipers 24-28.
Also, D:Defenders won 28-23, while Kano Pillars thrashed Borno Spiders 30-22.
Twelve teams are participating in the male category of the league competition, while 10 teams are participating in the female category.
