Aghughu Adolphus, Auditor-General of the Federation designate, has promised to automate auditing processes in government Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure transparency and accountability.
Adolphus said this, when he appeared before Senate Committee on Public Accounts for screening on Thursday in Abuja.
He said the office of the accountant general had begun the process of establishing a forensic laboratory to prepare audit reports to ensure transparency.
He said efforts were also being made to ensure procurement of auditing softwares to further improve the nation’s auditing processes in line with global practices.
Earlier, Chairman of the Committee, Sen.Mathew Urhoghide (PDP-Edo) said there was need to ensure proper functioning of the office of the accountant general.
He said there was need to ensure timely presentation of audit reports to National Assembly committees for consideration and presentation.
He decried the practice of appropriating funds to MDAs for a new year when queries over expenditures of previous audited reports were yet to be cleared.
He congratulated Adolphus for his nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari, saying that the committee would report back to the Senate on the screening.
