In commemoration of World Blood Donor Day 2021, Avon Medical, a leading multispecialty healthcare provider, organised a blood drive for Lagos citizens to donate blood on Monday, June 14, 2021 at the ultramodern Avon Dialysis Centre in GRA, Ikeja.
Commenting on the blood drive, Dr. Lilian Ekpo, the Medical Director, Avon Medical, said, “At Avon Medical, our priority is to provide world-class healthcare. Through initiatives like community blood drives, and other events, we are truly committed to improving lives across Africa.”
In partnership with the newly launched specialist life insurance company, Heirs Life Assurance (HLA), Avon Medical hosted the event to increase awareness of the importance of safe blood for transfusion, highlight the critical role voluntary blood donors play in national health and encourage the worthy practice of regular blood donation by eligible individuals.
The Chief Marketing Officer, Heirs Life Assurance, Ifesinachi Okpagu, confirmed that the partnership is in line with HLA’s goal of promoting, not just the importance of life insurance, but wholesome living, stating that “At the core of our business operations at Heirs Life Assurance is care for people and their families and we are pleased to have demonstrated this with our partnership with Avon Medical.”
Donors who gave blood at the event cited inspirational reasons from personal stories of their lives being saved by another donor, to wanting to make a difference in the lives of others who may struggle to find matches for their blood type due to its rarity.
