Nigerian UK-based chartered accountant calls for violence-free elections

A UK-based Nigerian chartered accountant, Mr Olanrewaju Sharafa, on Friday called for violence-free elections, as Nigeria conducts its 2023 presidential election on Saturday.
Sharafa, also the National Treasurer, Institute of Corporate And Public Sector Professionals (ICPSP), said this in a statement with the theme: “Peace and Prosperity of Nigeria”.
He said that the country is about to make another history, hence, the citizens must vote wisely.
According to him, Nigerians have a choice to the nature of the history to write, which may either make or endanger democracy.
Sharafa said: “I join eminent personalities, relevant institutions and international organisations to sue for peace and a violent free election.
“Regardless of political affiliation, the country is about to make another history and we have a choice to the nature of the history we are about to write.
“If we miss the opportunity that accompanies democracy, we will regret the alternative options available to us.
“Nigerians must be wary that the outcome of this election has a huge role to play in our national prosperity.
“I wish Nigeria successful and peaceful elections,” she said.
