Liverpool close in on EPL title after 4-0 win over Crystal Palace

The long envisioned dream and the rousing images of winning the Premier League this season is now a match away after Liverpool thrashed Crystal Place 4-0 at Anfield.

The Reds earned a vital three points to strengthen their lead by 23 points with seven more rounds to go.

This means a defeat for Manchester City against Chelsea on Thursday will fast track their shot of being crowned champions of this season. On the flip side, they are one win away from their first Premier League silverware in 30 years.

Both teams lined up perfectly and locked horn in a goalless draw for 15 minutes before Palace’s playmaker Wilfred Zaha took a knock and was lowered to the bench for Max Meyer.

Trent Alexander-Arnold opened the score sheet with a 25-yard free kick drive into Wayne Hennessey’s goal area and Mo’ Salah added the second to give Liverpool a comfortable 2-0 lead at half time which they clearly dominated.

Fabinho rifled a powerful rising shot to register the third goal after 10 minutes of second half and Sadio Mane completed the 4-0 win over Cryatal Palace with a fine finish from Salah’s pass.

Liverpool are now undefeated in 23 consecutive home games in the Premier League. They will be back to action when they visit Manchester City at Eithiad on Thursday July 2.
