Dani Ceballos last gasp strike sends Arsenal to FA Cup semifinal

Arsenal midfielder, Dani Ceballos scored a late goal in a heated quarterfinal clash to see out Sheffield United after a 2-1 victory at Bramall Lane.

Mikel Arteta’s men will now play an FA Cup semifinal match for the first time since 2017 thanks to Ceballos who delivered a low drive from a tight angle at stoppage minute to hand Arsenal the needed victory for qualification.

Arsenal took the lead mid way into the first half from a spot kick. Alexander Lacazette was brought down in the penalty area, the referee did not take Chris Basham’s tackle for a soft one and Nicolas Pepe fired home to keep Gunners in front before the break. .

The Blades were then compelled for the chase which resulted into vague hopes after several attempt to grab an equalizer yielded nothing. They however kept pushing for a breakthrough until McGoldrick followed up a rebound and volley in from four yards to bring Sheffield back on level terms after 87 minutes.

While enjoying the delight of a long awaited achievement, Chris Wilder’s men had hope to wind up the game at extra time but Ceballos picked up a lose ball from Pepe’s error and struck the net in 91st minute to give Arsenal the crucial lead hence a 2-1 victory at full time.

Arsenal have joined Manchester United who also reached the semifinals on Saturday after beating Norwich City with the same score line. The duo will wait for other quarterfinal fixture to know their next opponent in the title race.
