Bayern Munich complete £55m Leroy Sane move from Manchester City

Bayern Munich have finalised the signing of Manchester City winger Leroy Sane for £54.8 million on a five year deal.

The Bavarians reached an agreement with the Citizens to pay £44.7 million upfront for Sané with another £10.1m in variables while City successful struck a 10 per cent sell-on clause that could see the club rake in a handful of revenue if Sane achieve his targets in Germany.

Sane, signed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga champions estimated to be about £386,000-a-week and will be bound to Alianz Arena until 2025.

Manchester City have confirmed the player’s departure through a statement released on it website.

“Leroy Sane has left Manchester City to join Bayern Munich on a permanent deal. The 24-year-old spent four years at the Ethiad, winning two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, two League Cups and two Community Shields. In total, he made 135 appearances for City across all competitions, scoring 39 goals and assisting 45.”

The German International was touted for a move to Bayern in 2019 but suffered a knee injury during Community Shield match against Liverpool. The injury proved to be long-term which saw the move paused along with missing the bulk of 2019/20 season.

He has finally reached a decision to leave Ethiad after a reasonable contract agreement could not be agreed upon. The 24 year-old has opted for a switch to Germany where he will earn more annual income unlike England.

City manager Pep Guardiola has aired his farewell message to the youngster but stressed that his exit won’t be a deficit to his team as he has more than enough top players; Gabriel Jesus, Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez, who can fit in perfectly to his wing.

Sane has won two Premier League, two FA Cup, Two Carabao Cup and two FA Community Shield during his four years spell with the Sky Blues.

However, he will suffer a major blow if Bayern Munich win the champions league this term as he won’t feature for the club in the competition until next season.
