Arsenal 2-0 M’City: Abaumeyang brace fires all-time winners to FA Cup Final

Arsenal picked up from where they left off in midweek and staged another outstanding performance to thrash Manchester City 2-0 in FA Cup semi-final on Saturday.

Gunners where finding rhythm after the restart of Premier League but the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in June further sunk their qualification race at a time they were desperate for an Europa League berth.

In the few weeks that came after the anguish, the team looked as good as it should have been originally and have now returned the favor by evicting the Citizens from FA Cup.

Mikel Arteta’s men rattled off a smooth win against Premier League champions Liverpool on Wednesday and also cruised past Manchester on City Sunday to earn themselves a spot in this season FA Cup final. The 21st in the club’s history and an unsurpassable record since advent of the competition.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the hero of the night, the Gabonese found the back of the net in each half after an ecstatic link-up and beautiful orchestration of play by his teammates to raise his season goal tally to 26 and earn Arsenal the desired victory.

A brilliant teamwork in the 18th minute saw Arsenal showing enough guts to complete seven passes in their own 18-yard box which started from goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and ended with David Luiz before launching a counter attack on City who have been outplayed.

Only five passes were need afterwards for Aubameyang to meet Nicolas Pepe’s cross which he tucked with a superb outside-of-the-boot finish into Martinez far post to put his side in front.

The Sky Blues had glorious opportunities to return to par through Raheem Sterling and Kevin de Bruyne, and a long-range strike from Aymeric Laporte, but resilient Arsenal were strong enough and determined not to concede.

Aubameyang then doubled the lead when Kieran Tierney sets him up in 71 minutes with an aerial pass which he brought down brilliantly and sprinted clear City defenders before placing the ball in between Martinez legs.

Arsenal will now wait for the result of second semifinal fixture between Manchester United and Chelsea to know their final opponent at Wembley.

Gunners will also round up their Premier League campaign in a week time when they play away to Aston Villa on Wednesday and at home to Watford on Sunday.
