Liverpool Prepares For Thiago Alcantara £27m signing

In light of the summer transfer window which opened on July 27 for Premier League teams to do business. New England champions Liverpool have been given a greenlight in the signing of Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

Thiago who is currently bound to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich extended his stay at the Alianz Arena in 2017 until 2021 after initially joining the club from Barcelona on a four-year contract in 2013.

With one year left in his current contract and refusal to ink future commitment to the Bavarian, it is believed that the seven times German topflight champion is looking elsewhere and Bayern are desperate to cash in on him before he departs as a free agent.

Liverpool who have been without a creative midfielder since Phillipe Coutinho exit the club are seeing Alcantara as a potential replacement and additional boost to their middle role ahead of next season as they hope to continue their seasonal title winning streak.

Qatar-owned French side, Paris Saint-Germain are also willing to spend from their money bag to bring the 29-year old to the French capital and are also favourites in the bid to secure his signature.

According to the Mundo Deportivo News via talkSPORT, Thiago is ‘very likely’ to join Liverpool this summer and the newly-crowned Premier League champions are ready to meet Bayern’s £27m asking price to get a deal over the line.

Jurgen Klopp has just led Liverpool to their first league title in 30 years having also won the Champions League last season so understandably he’s relatively content with his squad and isn’t expected to be too busy in the market this summer.

However, the German coach could do with another midfielder after Adam Lallana left to join Brighton while James Milner is coming towards the end of his career and it appears Thiago is the man Klopp wants to strengthen his options in the middle of the park.

The Brazilian-born star has been one of the best midfielders in Germany since joining Bayern from Barcelona in 2013 has won numerous domestic cups during his time at the Allianz Arena.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days but I think Thiago would be an excellent piece of business for Liverpool if they can get the deal done as he would only further enhance their already formidable team ahead of next season.
