Buhari Reappoints AMCON CEO Ahmed Kuru for Final Term

President Muhammadu Buhari has renewed the appointment of Ahmed Kuru, the Managing Director of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) for a final term of five years.

The President also re-nominated Eberechukwu Uneze and Aminu Ismail as Executive Directors of the Corporation.

In  a statement, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said President Buhari had already conveyed the decision to the National Assembly in a letter to the Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan.

According to the President’s letter to the National Assembly, he was seeking Senate’s confirmation of the nominees in accordance with Section 10(1) of the AMCON Act, 2010.

Likewise, in another letter to the President of the Senate in compliance with Sections 5(4) and 8(3) of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) Act, 2010, President Buhari also asked the Senate to confirm the nominations of Bello Hassan as the Managing Director, and Mustapha Muhammad Ibrahim as Executive Director of NDIC.

Both nominees will succeed NDIC Managing Director, Umaru Ibrahim and Executive Director (Operations) Prince Aghatise Erediuwa whose second terms end on December 8, 2020.
